Medication Non Compliance:

The biggest problem that our medical assistance programs face today is non medication compliance. The problems that occur from an unstructured medication routine are both numerous and costly on today's ever increasing medical assistance budget. These problems are manageable by organizing a schedule that benefits each particular patient that doesn't remain compliant to the medication routine that the physician prescribed.

The most frequent of these problems is when the patient forgets to take their medication. This in itself is not healthy and can lead to other problems but then the patient may figure that they will fix the problem by taking a double dose of the medicine. This can be very dangerous to their health, depending on the type of medication and in some cases even fatal. When medication is not taken on the structured schedule it was intended then it can be even more dangerous than not having the medicine, doing away with all benefits of the medication regiment.

Another problem that causes non compliance is when the medicine has a side effect on the patient that makes them not want to take the medicine that they so badly need. When the side effects seem to the patient to not be worth taking the medication, they frequently fail to form the physician that they are no longer taking the medication. This medication problem is one that is very difficult to fix, due to the fact that no one may know until it is too late and already caused other complications.

Many physicians and medical companies have devised various techniques and devices to help with the wide variety of problems that cause non medication compliance. There are organizers that help the patient to keep their medication in order so that they know what day or time to take them. There are various types of medicine dispensers out there on the market today that are designed to help remind and properly dispense their medication. When these devices are utilized then the benefits of the medication regiment are apparent in the health of the patients that take the medicine.

There are many arguments for the various types of dispensers on the market today and all of them do not have the same results for cases of medication management but it is an ever growing problem on the cost of medical care around the world. The solution to non compliance is in taking all the responsibility out of the hands of the patients that are non-compliant. The device that can achieve this is the one that will help the most people and benefit in reducing the cost of medical care where ever it is used.
